Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes 1) utilizing fire protection policies and work practices 2) developing and instructing curriculum on fire protection and prevention procedures and 3) conducting inspections of facilities/buildings, alarm, detection and suppression systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07) for in-service applicants. For outside applicants (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service), 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower level (GS-07) is required. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Selective Placement Factor:
To occupy this position, at the time of appointment the incumbent must possess and then continue to maintain the following Department of Defense, International Fire Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board) Certification levels:
Fire Inspector I Fire Inspector II Fire Officer I Firefighter I Firefighter II Driver/Operator Pumper Fire Instructor I Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Technician State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
